Applied Works

Applied Works is a London-based design studio creating purposeful digital projects for clients such as the BBC, Climate Arc, the UN, and Chatham House. During this internship, I worked closely with the lead developer, contributing to live commercial projects and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, ideas-driven studio.

Columbia University

Columbia needed a digital resource to explore the global imports and exports of minerals and the technologies that rely on them. The site was built using the Visx library with reusable treemap and voronoi components, a variable colour palette, and custom tooltips for user interaction This project deepened both my understanding and appreciation of complex data visualisation.

Veritrade

This was a major rebuild of Veritrade’s website, which houses an extensive trade data set. Using Visx, a treemap and global map component were developed, dynamically scaling each point to represent trade volumes. This part of the project involved adapting to evolving data structures and working with Spanish-language data to ensure accurate global representation.
